The Queen-Sized Futon

The queen-sized futon for maximum comfort

Futons have evolved from a college bound item into a luxury piece of decor that most people love to own. They vary in designs, colors, quality and sizes. This often makes it difficult for people to select the best one for them as there are many options available to choose from. Depending on the need and purpose, different futons can be bought at affordable prices. However, if comfort, durability and functionality are the prime areas of focus, then a queen-size futon is the right choice to go for, although it usually costs more. It makes the best everyday bed, and is suitable for couples and people who require space to spread out while they sleep.

A queen-size futon is approximately of 80 inches in length and 60 inches in width, although some designs can be bigger than this. The mattress can accommodate two people comfortably as a bed, while three people can effortlessly sit on the sofa. For those who find a normal futon small, this can be a better option. It is perhaps the most comfortable range in futons and looks elegant too. It also provides a warm touch to a modern house with a contemporary look. Queen-size futons are quite functional as well. These can be used as full sized sofa sets in living rooms, spacious apartments and offices. Furthermore, they can serve as luxurious beds at night with large sized mattresses. Due to their size, this size-futon works best in open rooms and big homes.

Often, they are made from some combination of cotton any polyester. While the cotton gives the futon a softer feel, the polyester gives it more durability.

However, these futons have a few downsides. First, they take a lot of space. Unlike other futons, a queen-size futon needs more space to function either as a sofa or a bed. Hence, these are most suitable for large spaces, and are not recommended for small apartments and rooms. A second downside is that they take a lot of effort to move around. For this reason, the queen-size is not good for those who relocate their furniture a lot or who plan to shift homes often. For such people, more compact designs of futons are ideal. There is also less variety available in a queen-size futon, as compared to smaller ones. Usually, queen-sized futons come with metal or wood frames. Since not as many people buy these, they are available in fewer materials and colors. Overall, the biggest downside to a queen-size futon is perhaps its affordability aspect. These types of futons are more expensive than some twin or double beds and sofas. This is the major catch that prevents many people from buying queen-sized futons even though they may want them for their comfort and durability.

Regardless of these downsides, a queen-size futon is an ideal piece of furniture that offers the utmost satisfaction to its users in terms of comfort, durability and elegance. They will continue to retain their place in the market among those who do not want to compromise their comfort, even by spending a little more.
